Who We Are
At the northwest corner of 206th and Cumberland there is an old school house turned into a home many years ago. Larry Driver and his wife Judy live there with their super cute dog Pepper. Larry created the Recycle Shop in his garage and has been a wizard bike mechanic for all of those years.
I was the Youth Pastor and Property manager at Bethel Lutheran Church across the street, that's how Larry and I met. My name is Joe Rudy. I am married to Tree Rudy and we have 2 kids (young adults really), Max and Aubrey. We live in downtown Noblesville. I have been a social worker all my life, I like working with people. I began working in the Youth Ministry (getting paid for it) in 2008.
On many occasions people would come to buy a bicycle from Larry and he would have them test ride it in the parking lot at the church. I would see Larry outside in the parking lot or at his shop and I would go and talk with him, see what he was up to...you know...just being nosy. One day Larry said he wished that somebody would take over for him so he could retire and I chimed in that I could do it. I've been learning and improving my bicycle repair and maintenance skills from him ever since.
Well, time rolled on and one thing lead to another and HUZZAH! A space became available in Cicero, tools acquired, we had a global pandemic and everyone started riding bicycles. Well, maybe not everyone but you get the idea... I think.
The vision I've got here at our place in Cicero is to create opportunities for High Schoolers, a place for cyclists and outdoor friendly people to hang out and maybe just maybe pull off a sweet place to buy a bicycle and get it fixed. As with some things we hope to get better over time...you gotta get better before you get bigger. We'll see you soon.
